DBR works with the neuroscience of traumatic learning to gently unwind embodied and emotional processes at the source. Psychiatrist Frank Corrigan developed the approach after noticing that the clients who most needed trauma reprocessing often could not tolerate EMDR. What emerged is a deceptively gentle process that works directly with preaffective shock, the layer of response that comes online before emotion or defense ever have a chance to form.
